Pooja bags 1st place in Essay Writing Competition

JAMMU, Oct 22: Pooja Bhat from Department of Computer Science & IT and Ambika Bhan from The Law School, University of Jammu, clinched the first and second Prize respectively in On the Spot Essay Writing Competition, under the “Display Your Talent” 2013-14, being held here.
Radhika Mahajan from the Department of Political Science, University of Jammu, bagged the third prize.
The certificates of merit were awarded to Sugandhi from Govt Women College, Udhampur and Kunal Sharma from the Department of Physics and Electronics, University of Jammu.
In Essay Writing Competition, the topic for the contest was “Role of Social Media in Spreading Communal hatred”.
Meanwhile, in Short Story Writing Competition, a Short Story written by Harneet from The Law School, University of Jammu- “Daughters–The Shining Future of the Society” was adjudged the best short story in English, whereas the Short Story on the same topic written by Shraddha from the Govt College of Engineering  and Technology, Jammu, was adjudged as the best short story in Hindi.
In Hindi, the Certificates of Merit in Short Story Writing were awarded to Shivani Pathania from the Department of Botany and Pooja Devi from the Department of Political Science, University of Jammu, whereas in Urdu and English Languages, Rakesh Kumar from the Department of Urdu and Ambika Bhan from The Law School and Vishal Sharma from the Department of History, University of Jammu fetched the certificates of merit. Gurpreet Singh from the Department of Punjabi, University of Jammu, bagged the Certificate of Merit in Short Story Writing in Punjabi.
“Twittering Your Life Away”, “Daughter”, Mere Log”, Upphaar (Gift), “River–Tawi” and Communal Harmony” were the topics for the Short Story Writing Competition.
