POONCH, July 22: The opening match of the Poonch Hockey league which commenced today was played between Young Star and Stadium XI, here.
Stadium XI won the match by three goals to one (3-1).
For Stadium XI, Jagmeet scored 2 goals in 10th and 47th minutes of the match, while Noib netted the ball in 33rd minute, while for Young Star, Shoaib scored the lone goal in 51st minute of the match.
The league was declared open by the chief guest ADC Poonch, Sheraz Malik along with DySP DAR Sheezan Bhat, guest of honour.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Nirdosh Kumar, Manager Sports Stadium Poonch, Tanveer Dar, Vijay Kumar PEM, Pawan Kumar, Matinder Pal, Ranveet Singh (Hockey Coaches).Vikas Sharma, Harmik Singh, Sunil Raina and Rajinder Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest applauded the efforts of coaches in channelizing the energy of the youth in right direction.
PHL is being organised by Hockey Poonch in collabration with Sham Lal Hockey Academy and Power House Hockey Club Poonch under the aegis of Hockey J&K and sponsored by Sham Lal Hockey Academy.
The match was officiated by a technical panel of experts including Navjit Singh hockey Coach, Kavaldeep Singh, Meenakshi Khajuria, Urvashi Sharma and Shewani Sharma.
The league is being conducted under the technical supervision of Mukesh Kumar, Hockey Coach
