POONCH, July 14: Led by S. Narinder Singh, President District Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Poonch, Sikhs associated with various organizations held a meeting with BJP J&K vice-president, S. Varinderjeet Singh during his three day visit to the border district.
Poonch Sikhs brought to fore some important issues, grievances and demands like two Assembly seats to be reserved for Sikhs in Kashmir and Jammu provinces, enacting of anti-conversion law, implementation of Anand Marriage Act, reserving 10 seats for PoJK refugees in the 24 seats kept for the refugees, a Sikh to be appointed as Advisor to LG and also PSC members and Punjabi should be declared a one of the official languages in J&K.
The Sikhs said that their demands should be taken to the appropriate level for solutions.
Varinderjeet gave a patient hearing to the Sikhs and assured that every genuine demand will be looked into sympathetically for proper action.
The meeting was attended by S. Surjan Singh, general secretary DGPC Poonch; S. Manohar Singh, ex-president Gurmat Prachar Kendar, S. Mohan Singh, president Gurdwara Khalsa Chowk Poonch; Captain Sohan Singh, president Gurdwara Degwar, Solla; Sarpanch Jasbir Singh (Halqa Ajote); ex-Numberdar Surjit Singh, Paramjeet Singh and others.
