POONCH, June 17: Poonch XI Cricket Club registered win over Glamour Cricket Club and lifted title trophy of Shaheed Major Rohit Sharma T-20 Cricket Tournament, organized by Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under Romeo Force.
The 14-day long tournament was played between the Army and locals in Poonch district to pay tribute to Shaheed Major Rohit Sharma, Shaurya Chakra, who had laid down his life during a search operation in Poonch district.
On the valedictory function, chief guest Subedar Major and Honorary Captain Bana Singh, (Retd), Param Vir Chakra, who had conquered the highest peak during an operation in Siachen, gave away the prizes to the winner and runner up teams.
The event was a huge success and large number of people turned up to watch the final and other league matches played earlier.
On the occasion, a cultural programme was also presented by the students, which was highly appreciated by the audience.
In the tournament, 10 teams from different areas of the district participated and exhibited their talent.
