RAJOURI, Mar 29: Poonch XI won Pir Panchal Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament at DPL Ground, here today.
District Administration Rajouri organised Pir Panchal Premier League T20 Cricket tournament under Khelo India Scheme.
A total of four teams participated, with two from district Rajouri and two from district Poonch.
The final match of the tournament was played between Rajouri XI and Poonch XI, wherein Poonch XI defeated its rival by 1 wicket.
Earlier, batting first, Rajouri XI scored a good total of 196 for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Asif Khan and Rahul scored superb half-centuries. For Poonch XI, Arif and Naveed took 2 wickets each.
Poonch XI, in reply chased the target in 19.2 overs by losing 9 wickets, thus won the match in a close contest by one wicket. Asif and Arif top scored with 60 runs each, while
Ankush contributed 48 runs of 14 balls. For Rajouri XI, Gubash and Shazad took two wickets each.
DDC Rajouri, Ajaz Asad was the chief guest, while SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas was the guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion, DDC announced that next year this will be organised on IPL pattern and requested youth to participate in large numbers.
He presented a cash prize of Rs 50,000 to the winning team and Rs 25,000 to runners-up team. Arif was awarded with Rs 5000 as cash prize for man of the match.
