New Delhi, Aug 14:
Disappointed at being ignored for the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, top woman discus thrower Krishna Poonia today went to see Sports Minister Jitendra Singh to express her displeasure over the issue but failed to meet him.
“Yes, I had gone to see the Sports Minister today and waited for him the entire day, but unfortunately could not meet him,” Poonia said.
Poonia first visited the Sports Ministry but since Singh was not available there, she went to the Defence Ministry but to no avail.
The recommendation of shooter Ronjan Sodhi for the Khel Ratna Award yesterday sparked off a controversy with some members of the selection panel raising questions about the process of his selection.(PTI)
