JAMMU, Oct 22: Lashing out at the BJP-led NDA Government and Coalition Govt in State for their failure to address genuine issues of people of Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress said the Centre’s political immaturity has pushed the State from an era of development into one of uncertainty and insecurity.
“There is total snap of communication between the people and the State authorities. Both the ruling coalition partners in J&K are today totally cut off from the people and the public living in whole State is being treated like people of some enemy country”, former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla said while addressing a gathering at Trikuta Nagar Extension (Dilley area) in Gandhi Nagar constituency here.
He claimed that the situation in J&K during last three years has totally changed from an era of development, peace and tranquillity, witnessed by the people from 2002 till 2014, when the landmark people-friendly initiatives taken by Congress leaders put the State back on path of development, prosperity, reconciliation and trust.
Bhalla said poor people have to run from pillar to post to get services like state subjects, ration, old age and widows pension, Aadhaar cards and revenue papers.
“The ties with the neighbouring country have seen a lowest ebb and people living in border areas have been left on their own to be victims of increased border shelling”, he said, adding that apart from loss of lives and injuries to border residents, they have been subjected to huge losses of cattle, agricultural crops and their houses due to the continuous border shelling by Pakistan.
Bhalla demanded Government to adopt a people-friendly and soft approach in J&K and to take immediate measures for reconciliation and restoration of people’s trust in the administration.
BJP acts as dummy coalition partner in the Government as discrimination with Jammu province is being done at all ground either in recruitment, allotment of funds, development in tourist sector or overall development process, Bhalla stated, adding that the current insensitive dispensation has exposed people to administrative inertia, as a result of which they were suffering on all fronts.
Former Minister speaking on the occasion said that infrastructure development with regard to tourism is lacking despite the fact that J&K is considered as one of the industrially backward States of the country. Bhalla said that all the development projects are moving at snails pace.
“The State bureaucracy too is in a state of disarray and dismay owing to mishandling and unprecedented impropriety by the PDP-BJP Government. Juniors are being promoted over seniors, and key departments are being run in an ad-hoc and chaotic manner”, Bhalla maintained.
