Population explosion

Sir,
One of the issues that confronts the country today, but is not taken seriously is population explosion. This issue should have been taken on priority basis keeping in view repurcussions, it would have in the future, for the country. India’s population, based on the latest United Nations estimates  is 1,339,040,095. Demographers have forecast that India may overtake China’s population as early in 2022, that is five years from now.
The increasing population is posing many challenges to policy planners in India. The worst hit of this population boom is the poor section of society who do not have access to quality education, healthcare and other basic necessities of life. At the same time, it is creating unemployment among the masses, which in turn is creating a big chunk of population who remain famished, undernourished and unpaid. One of the ugly facets of this boom is trafficking of women and children.
The country needs to wake up to this problem at the earliest before it may become a big headache for the planners.
Yours etc…
