Post floods: police books encroacher

JAMMU, Oct 2: In the aftermath of floods, which caused massive destruction with encroachments being one of the reasons, police today lodged a FIR against two community halls with the name of Shiva Bangla Pitambar Ashram, Udheywalla, which had been constructed on seven kanals of JDA land without approval of any of the agency and completion of other formalities.
Police said FIR was today registered under Section 447-A, 3 Property Damage Act, 430 and 120-B RPC at Domana police station against Sham Lal Verma son of Charan Dass, a resident of Janipura for constructing two community halls over 7 kanals of JDA land.
Sources said the community halls had blocked flow of flood water leading to heavy damages to High Tension (HT) wire of the Power Development Department (PDD). The PDD’s concerned Executive Engineer lodged the complaint with Domana police station, which registered the case today after investigations conducted by SHO Jaipal Sharma under the supervision of Additional SP Jammu M L Kaith.
Police said the community hall had been constructed over a nullah, which had blocked flow of flood water leading to damaged to PDD HT wires.
Further investigations have been taken up.
