Potato futures extend gains on rising demand

NEW DELHI, Mar 13:  Potato gained for the third day by adding 3 per cent to Rs 800.90 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators enlarged their positions, driven by rising demand in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in April gained Rs 23.30, or 3 per cent, to Rs 800.90 per quintal in business turnover of 211 lots.
Likewise, the potato for delivery in March traded higher by Rs 24.40, or 2.99 per cent, to Rs 840.40 per quintal in eight lots.
Market analysts said speculators enlarged their positions, driven by rising demand in the spot market mainly led to rise in potato prices for third day at futures market. (PTI)
