Power Grid holds Painting Contest to celebrate Ambedkar Jayanti

JAMMU, Apr 17: Power  Grid Corporation of India Ltd,  Northern Region Transmission System-II, Jammu celebrated the birth anniversary of Dr B R  Ambedkar at Naveen Shiksha Kendra High School, run by  SAWERA  NGO  at Channi Himmat, here today.
The school has children mainly from the slums and weaker sections of the society.
The painting competition was organized in three categories from Nursery up to Class Ist, from Class Ist to Class Vth and from Class VIth to Class Xth.
The theme of the painting competition was on ‘Dr  B R Ambedkar: His vision and Contribution’.
The students were full of enthusiasm to showcase their talent. The beautiful and expressive drawings added to the glory of the event.
The paintings made by the children showcased their respect and awareness about the contribution made by Dr B R  Ambedkar in nation building.
On this occasion, J P Singh, Executive Director, NRTS-II was the chief guest.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were S D Joshi, AGM (O&M) and Stanley Mathews, Chief Manager (HR).
Ram Gopal Sharma, Chairman, Sawera Foundation presented welcome address.
S K Agarwal, Principal of the School and Y P Khajuria, vice president of Sawera Foundation also spoke on the occasion.
In his address, J P Singh urged upon the children to live their lives with dignity and honour and expressed happiness to be a part of these celebrations.
He highlighted the role of Dr B R Ambedkar in amelioration of the cause of the downtrodden and weaker sections of society.
Later-on, J P Singh distributed prizes among the winners of the competition.
