JAMMU, Sept 23: Powergrid, Northern Region-II today donated an ambulance to Government Medical College, Jammu.
Dr  Ganshyam Dev Gupta, Principal GMC Jammu  received the ambulance from S K Sharma, Executive Director  (Projects), Powergrid, Northern Region-II), in presence of senior doctors of GMC and officers of Powergrid.
Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd   realizing the indispensable role of ambulance services in emergency pre-hospital medical care, patient transfer, ease of access to health services particularly to rural / difficult areas has undertaken this initiative of providing ambulances to Government hospitals / Medical colleges / Rural Health Centers as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.
Powergrid is donating 28 such ambulances to various Government hospitals across the country under its CSR initiative with the objective that it will strengthen the Public health infrastructure, increase confidence of people in public healthcare services and enhanced utilization of public health infrastructure.
On this occasion S K Sharma highlighted various CSR activities being undertaken by the Powergrid and stressed that such initiatives are the manifestation of its commitment to a better future for all and helping the nation in building a sustained and self-dependent social structure. He announced that three more ambulances have been earmarked for this region which shall be handed over at Srinagar, Shimla and Patiala shortly.
