JAMMU, Aug 4: A three day ‘Inter-Regional Kabaddi Tournament’, organized by POWERGRID, commenced at University of Jammu’s Indoor Gymnasium Hall, here today.
About 11 teams from various regions of POWERGRID are participating in the tournament which was inaugurated by Kailash Rathore, Executive Director (NRTS-II) in the presence of Shiv Jyoti Sharma Senior GM (C&M), Sham Sundar Choudhary, Senior GM (Commercial), Vinod P Baxla, General Manager (HR).
KV Sampath Kumar, GM (Finance) and other officials of POWERGRID, University of Jammu and J&K Sports Council were also present during the opening ceremony of the grand event.
The participating teams are Southern Region-I (SR-I), Southern Region-II (SR-II), Eastern Region-I (ER-I), Eastern Region-II (ER-II), Western Region-I(WR-I), Western Region-II (WR-II), North Eastern Region (NER), Northern Region-I (NR-I), Northern Region-III (NR-III),Corporate Centre (CC) and the host region Northern Region-II (NR-II) .
The matches in the tournament are being conducted on league cum knockout basis. In today’s matches, NR-II and WR-I topped their pool with two wins each, whereas NR-I with three wins topped Pool-B.
Gurjinder Singh (NR-2), Kishore Agrawal (WR-1), Bhim Sen (NR-2), Anil Kumar Yadav (NR-3) and Pramod G. Dhawali (WR-1) were awarded with man of the match awards in Pool-A, whereas Khem Chand (NR-1), Mahipal Bajiya (WR-2), Khajan Singh Panwar (NER), Balendra Singh (NR-1), Arun A.S (SR-2), V.K Gaur (NR-1), Moideen Fasil (SR-2) and Jai Singh (CC) were also adjudged with man of the match awards in Pool-B.
