POWERGRID signs MoU with DC Kargil

KARGIL, Aug 4: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) here today signed an MoU with District Development Commissioner, Kargil for providing a Truck Mounted Water Tanker of 9 KL capacity for Govt. Degree College, Kargil under CSR.
Under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of POWERGRID, the MoU was signed by Vinod P. Baxla, General Manager (HR) on behalf of POWERGRID and Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, Deputy Commissioner (Kargil) in the presence of Feroz Ahmed Khan, Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil and Rajesh Kumar, Executive Director POWERGRID, NRTS-II.
Senior officers from POWERGRID including Anil Sharma, CGM (Projects), K.V Sampath Kumar, Sr. GM (Finance), Shafat Ahmad Wani, Sr. GM (Ladakh & Kashmir) and officials of Kargil District administration were also present.
More than 3000 students are enrolled in various undergraduate degree courses at Govt. Degree College, Kargil, the largest College in Ladakh UT. Permanent water supply for daily use is a primary concern for the college.
To resolve the issue, college authorities had raised the matter with District Magistrate, Kargil who in turn requested POWERGRID to provide a water tanker to ensure ample supply of potable drinking water for the Govt. Degree College, Kargil students and staff.
As per the MoU signed today the funds for the Water Tanker will be provided by POWERGRID and will be utilized by Deputy Commissioner Kargil and purchase of the tanker shall be made through District Motor Garages, Kargil. Operation and Maintenance of the tanker shall be taken care of by District Administration Kargil.
The project shall be an initiative of POWERGRID in District Kargil, towards promoting education. The cost of this project is estimated at Rs. 27.20 lakh and it is supposed to be completed within the current financial year.
On this occasion both CEC Kargil and DC Kargil thanked POWERGRID for taking up this CSR initiative which will benefit the students and college staff in the district.
