Pranav, Nitin guide Surya Risers to 3-wkt win

JAMMU, July 25: All-round display by Nitin Mehra and Pranav Gupta helped Surya Risers to drub Trumboo Panthers by 3 wickets in a close contest to consolidate their position in the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Corporate Premier League (JKCPL) at MA Stadium, here today.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Trumboo Panthers managed to score a modest total of 117 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Nasir played sensible knock of 29 runs off 34 balls with the help of 4 fours and one six, while Javid and Sagar contributed 18 and 17 runs to the total respectively.
It was the duo of Nitin Mehra and Pranav Gupta who captured 8 wickets between them, with 4 wickets each. Nitin conceded 19 runs in his 4 overs, while Pranav gave away 23 runs in his quota of 4 overs.
In reply, Surya Risers reached the target in a tough contest by losing 7 wickets, thus won the match by 3 wickets. Guru Pratap Singh was the top scorer with magnificent 23 runs off 20 balls, studded with 3 fours, while Rompy Sharma contributed valuable unbeaten 15 runs to the total. These two accumulated runs in the pressure cooker scenario. Nitin Mehra contributed 17 runs off 21 balls with a massive six, while skipper Ian Dev Singh and Pranav Gupta chipped in with 14 runs each. Pranav hit 2 boundaries in his brief knock, while Ian struck one. For Trumboo Panthers, Imran took 3 wickets, while Sagar, Nasir and Saleem took one wicket each. Nitin and Pranav of Surya Risers were declared HDFC joint man of the match winners, while Nasir of Trumboo Panthers got the TCI Maximum Sixes Award. The awards were given to them by a presentation team including match referee and former International umpire, SK Bansal and the owners of Surya Risers and Trumboo Panthers- Satish Gupta and Mujeeb respectively.
The match was officiated by BCCI panel umpires Amit Bansal and Sudhir Singh, while Dheeraj and Mohsin acted as scorers.
In the tomorrow’s fixture, Kehwa Kings will take on Surya Risers at 2 pm at the same venue.
