Srinagar, Apr 5: High Court today directed the Government to prepare and implement the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to maintain the parks and gardens in Jammu as well as in Srinagar for all the seasons.
The direction was passed by the Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar and Justice MK Hanjura after the court was informed that in terms of the order passed on December 28 last year the Government has constituted a committee to prepare an action plan for beautification of parks and gardens.
“We call upon the committee constituted by the Government to prepare SOP and implement the same and report compliance on or before May 8”, DB directed.
It is in compliance to order dated 28.12.17 the committee has been constituted by the Government in terms of order No.276-GAD of 2018 dated 20.2.18.
Court, however, in terms of order dated 28.12.17 had indicated that the Standard Operating Procedure should be prepared so that the parks and gardens for all the four seasons are maintained in the cities of Srinagar/Jammu.
Court was hearing a suo moto cognizance taken to a letter addressed to the then Chief Justice of the State with regard to encroachments and maintaining of parks in Srinagar city.
