JAMMU, May 5: All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) has expressed concern over the failure of successive Governments at Centre and in the State to rehabilitate over four lakh displaced Kashmiri Pandits in Valley.
The ASKPC which met here, today under the leadership of its president advocate, Ravinder Raina said while previous Congress led UPA Government did not take any step for the return and rehabilitation of displaced Pandits from Valley, the present Narendra Modi Government at Delhi in which the displaced Pandits had pinned high hopes also did not take any concrete step in this regard due to which the hopes of the community have dashed into the ground.
He said PM Modi had kept the return of migrants top on his election agenda in 2014 polls but has so far totally failed to fulfill his poll promise in this regard and rather the present NDA Government at Delhi also pursued the policy of its predecessors.
Dr T K Bhat generals secretary of the ASKPC said under the prevailing circumstances and lackluster approach of the Union Government, the displaced Pandits have lost the hope of their return to Valley. He alleged the Government of India has also failed to restore its authority on political situation in the Valley especially on settlement of displaced Pandits which has not only been opposed by separatists but the mainstream political parties also.
The meeting took both the Centre and State Governments to task for their failure in creating a Management Board for protection of Hindu shrines in Valley as demanded by the community. It also urged the Government to prepare a concrete road map on return and rehabilitation of Pandits in Valley.
