JAMMU, Apr 23: Minister of State for Information, Education and Culture Priya Sethi today said that that Government is committed to ameliorate the conditions of weaker sections of the society and focus will be on welfare and education of the orphans, destitute, and other less privileged section of the society
Minister was speaking at a function organized by Big Reporter on the eve of Book Day where books and stationery material was distributed among the orphan kids of Ball Niketan today.
Speaking on the occasion Priya said that it is the responsibility of the society to take care of these less privileged children adding that the children are the future of the nation and all of us must give them love and care for transforming their future.
Describing books as the best friends of the students Minister impressed upon the students to inculcate the habits of newspaper and books reading and asked the teachers to encourage their students to read a story in morning assembly everyday to promote reading.
Priya stressed on the need to focus on nurturing moral values among the children along with their academic learning. “Education should not only aim at acquiring knowledge and passing examinations but must also promote and inculcate moral values,” she maintained.
Priya called upon people to come forward for supplementing the efforts aimed at securing the larger welfare of orphans, destitute children and other less privileged segments of the community.
Yudhvir Sethi while appreciating the efforts of management said that children are the future of the society and they need to be protected and nurtured for a better society.
