JAMMU, Dec 27: People’s Revolutionary Movement (PRM) today held a protest demonstration demanding political empowerment of Jammu.
The activists of PRM assembled outside Press Club and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
Addressing the gathering, PRM leader Rajinder Jamwal justified the importance of political empowerment of Jammu.
He said that seven decades of misrule, unequal development of the State, monopolization of a particular class and region at the cost of others, crushing of interest, rights and aspirations of people is an attempt to demolish the cultural identity and secular fabric of Jammu in a concocted design to have supremacy and writ large run of Kashmiris over Jammu.
Jamwal added that people and organizations struggling and agitating on their own, though for their own cause, must forge unity in the larger interest of Jammu as only “political empowerment of Jammu” could heal their wounds inflicted by successive State and Central Government.
Jamwal cited over various instances of political inequality among different regions of the State.
He assured that cooperation and support from different people, groups and organizations for the larger cause of political empowerment of Jammu will automatically be an answer to their problems and cautioned them not to fall prey to the nefarious designs of the political class.
The gathering was also addressed by DK Khajuria, Hari Dutt Shishu, former president, JURSA, Harbhajan Singh, Atresh Datta, Rajinder Singh Munna, Kuldeep Chib and Sahil Gupta.
