Reviews security situation with top brass

SRINAGAR, Oct 5: Union Home Minister Amit Shah this morning reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir during his three-day visit to the Union Territory.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Director Intelligence Bureau, Director Generals of various Central Armed Police Forces, Police and Army officials were present in the meeting.
The Home Minister asked security forces and the police to pro-actively conduct coordinated counter-terrorism operations.

Shah appreciated the efforts of the security agencies and J&K administration for keeping the streets free from violence and significantly restoring the rule of law.
He reviewed the working of the Security Grid and progress made on various items of the security agenda in previous meetings to reduce the incidents of terrorism and stranglehold of the separatist networks over the system.
The Minister exhorted the security forces and the police to continue with the coordinated efforts through meticulous and well-planned counter-terrorism operations to wipe out terrorism.
He also reviewed the cases registered under the UAPA and it was stressed that investigation should be timely and effective. The agencies concerned should work on improving capacities for ensuring quality investigation.

“The terror eco-system comprising elements that aid, abet and sustain the terrorist-separatist campaign to the detriment of the well-being of the common man requires to be completely dismantled,” the statement added.
The heads of the security agencies briefed the Home Minister about the security situation in J&K and steps that are being taken against the militants and subversive elements.
He was informed how the security agencies are implementing the zero-tolerance policy of the Government towards militants and anti-national elements who are bent upon disturbing peace in the region.
The Minister was given detailed account by the security forces of their fight against militants and number of operations conducted and militants eliminated during these operations.
He was also given detailed account of the anti-infiltration grid that had been established along the LoC and the border to counter infiltration. He was told about the designs of the Pakistan based militant organization who are trying to infiltrate militants into Jammu and Kashmir.
