JAMMU, May 15: Dr D P Abrol, Dean Faculty of Agriculture of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology, Jammu, has attended 13th Asian Apicultural Association Conference, held last month at Jeddah.
Organized by Bugshan Chair for Bee research, King Saud University Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, by Prof Ahmad Alkhazim Al-Ghamdi, president of the 13th AAA Conference, it was a well attended conference where beekeepers, scientists, researchers, environmentalists, health practitioners, bee products processors, importers and exporters, Government institutions and NGOs took part.
The theme of the conference was “Natural Resource Conservation for Sustainable Development”.
Prof Abrol has been elected as president, Bee flora, Pollination & Ecology for forthcoming 14th Asian Apicultural Association conference to be held in Indonesia during 2018. Prof Abrol was honoured with gold medal by King Saud University Jeddah for his outstanding contributions in the field of Apiculture.
Prof Abrol was invited as a key note speaker from India to deliver a lecture on ” Decline in pollinator and floral resources affecting global crop yield – current status and future strategies” in the Honeybee Flora, Pollination & Ecology session. Besides, delivering key note address, Prof Abrol also chaired Scientist session on Symposium: Honeybee Pollination-I and Honeybee Pollination-II.
