JAMMU, Feb 10: Department of Computer Science & IT, University of Jammu (JU) organized a lecture in the memory of Prof G L Kaul, the founding member of the department.
While speaking on the occasion, the chief guest of the function, Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor, JU underlined the achievements and contributions of Prof G L Kaul in building the department. Prof Girish Nath Jha from Jawaharlal Nehru University was the resource person who delivered a lecture on Natural Language Processing. The title of the lecture was “AI in Wilderness – Perils of Linguistic Computing in Diverse Societies”.
Prof Naresh Padha, Dean Research Studies, was the guest of the honor. While speaking on the occasion, he recalled his long association with Prof G L Kaul. Prof Lalit Sen Sharma, Head of the Department, in his welcome address, discussed the significance of the topic of the lecture in today’s world of information technology and assured that holding of such lectures shall be the continuous feature in every year. Prof Pawanesh Abrol threw light on the life of Prof G L Kaul.
Veena Kaul wife of late Prof G L Kaul and other family members also attended the lecture. Prof O N Kaul presented formal vote of thanks.
Among others Prof Vinod Sharma, Prof Ram Bahadur Shukla, Dr Dharminder Magotra, Dr Shubhnandan, Jasbir Singh, Dr Raj Kumar and Dr Vikram Sahi were other prominent guests who attended the lecture along with the students and scholars.
