Woman denied admission at Vilgam hospital

A woman was today allegedly denied admission at a hospital in Vilgam area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district and was asked to get the COVID test done first.
A furious elderly man who was carrying the women on his back after she complained of pain in her leg said that the doctors refused to see her as they were not carrying a COVID test with them; however, the allegations have been refuted by the concerned doctor.
The man was heard saying in a video that the doctors should have treated her as she was in pain. “Where do the poor people go; she is not in a good position and they (doctors) rather than throwing us out should have treated her,” the elderly man said.
However, the concerned doctor of the hospital has informed the higher-ups in the district that the said patient was given proper treatment and has refuted the accusation of having denied admission to her.
Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara Imam Din told Excelsior that while two contrasting versions are coming to the fore, the concerned CMO has been asked to conduct an impartial inquiry into the matter.
“The doctor is denying the allegations, so I have asked CMO Kupwara to conduct an inquiry into the matter,” he said.
