JAMMU, June 5: Prohit Sabha Martand Improvement Charitable Trust in its meeting here today held under the chairmanship of its president M K Yogi has expressed grave concern over the security lapses at Durga Nag shrine that resulted into the stealing of 250 grams of gold and jewellery from the holy temple of Maa Durga on Sunday.
The meeting said the incident has come as a rude shock to the community in particular and Hindus of the country in general as their sentiments are attached to this ancient shrine which has been the seat of Shankaracharya and first haltage point of Chhari Mubarak to holy cave of Amarnath.
Mr Yogi also demanded that fool proof security be provided to world famous Sun temple at Martand and condemned the grenade attack by militants in Anantnag township especially when the holy Amarnath yatra is to start. Terming it a serious matter he demanded that extra care be taken that such attacks don’t take place when the holy yatra is round the corner. He assured full cooperation and support to the Shrine Board and administration in smooth conduct of the yatra.
Jawahar Lal Kaul president J&K Minority Forum has also expressed concern over the theft in holy shrine of Durga Nag and termed it the result of mismanagement of the Trust. He demanded that the ornaments of the deity be immediately located failing which the community will come to streets.
