POONCH, Feb 23: Sarpanches Association Mandi Tehsil held strong protest against Jal Shakti department at Tehsil Complex Mandi today.
Sources said that Jal Shakti department has started demanding annual water supply charges from the villagers and the elected public representatives along with people are strongly opposing it.
Sarpanches said that concerned PHE /Jal Shakti department has worst condition on ground. Many Water Supply Schemes are lying defunct and pipelines are damaged. The water storage tanks at several places have not been constructed, some are leaking and the people are not getting regular and adequate water supply. But it is unfortunate that PHE department is seeking revenue which proper service. This is not acceptable.
They alleged that the department is also approaching for annual charges to the families who have not even taken water connections and getting water through public stands. They said the Government must solve all the problems of the people on ground and then they can demand annual fee from them.
