JAMMU, July 12: Irate residents from Ramgarh and adjoining areas today held massive protest demonstration against the Power and PHE Departments and blocked main Vijaypur-Nandpur road for about one and half hour.
The villagers irrespective of their party affiliation, including traders came out on the road today. They raised barricades on the road and stalled the movement of vehicular traffic. A large number of vehicles on this border road remained stranded for long.
The people were shouting slogans against the Power Development Department for imposing long and unscheduled power cuts. They also raised slogans against the Chief Minister who holds the PDD portfolio and alleged that due to very low voltage their electronic appliances have damaged. They warned not to pay even single penny as power revenue if the power supply position is not improved.
They further alleged that due to erratic power supply, the water supply has also been affected. The people are facing hardships during these hot summer days. Later, SHO and Tehsildar concerned moved to the site and assured the agitating public to take up the issue with the concerned officers. The public then lifted dharna from the road.
