He said that the academic arrangement staff is even doing other works along with teaching on just a meager amount of Rs 6500 and 7000. He said that all the academic staff engaged had gone through the proper selection process by the selection committee and they fulfill all criteria and are the toppers among the merit at the Division level.
Umesh Gupta said that they have been running from pillar to post for last 20 years but no one among the department and the Government is serious towards their demands. He said that the department is unable to justify the term academic arrangement as the terms and conditions implemented on academic arrangements are same as that of contractual.
General secretary, Vicky Sharma alleged that department deliberately used the term the academic arrangements to deprive them from the regularization benefits of J&K Civil Services Act 2010. He said that academic arrangements are for just one year and once they had continued further without any break the term academic arrangements nowhere exists.
The association appealed the Technical Education Minister to fulfill their demand of including them into JK Civil Services Act or to frame regularization policy for them otherwise they will have to come on the roads to get redressed their genuine demand.
Today, the Director Technical Education along with the Principals of various Polytechnics visited the protesting site and assured the aggrieved contractual lecturers that their problems are genuine and shall be suitably addressed at proper forum.
