RAJOURI, Sept 5: The people from ward number 11 and 13 of Municipal Committee Thanna Mandi today held protest demonstration against Executive Officer, TMC and Deputy Commissioner Rajouri for declaring both these wards as reserved for the purpose of forthcoming Local Bodies elections.
The people from these wards came to the Shahdara Chowk at Thannamandi town at around 10 am and sat on dharna in the main chowk, disrupting movement of traffic for about two hours. They raised slogans against the TMC authorities, its Executive Officer and the District authorities Rajouri.
They claimed that in both these wards the population of ST community is just one fourth of the total and declaring these two wards as reserved was a grave injustice with the other category members. They alleged that it has been done for the political reasons. They warned to boycott polls if the decision was not reviewed.
Later, the SDM Thannamandi, SDPO and SHO went to the protesting people and assured them to take up the matter with the Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri. Then the people lifted dharna at around 12 noon.
