JAMMU, May 29: The Granthis, Ragis and Sewadars of Gurdwaras, who are observing protest dharna for the last 13 days seeking increase in their wages, today threatened fast unto death if their demands are not conceded.
They have also appealed the Government to immediately dissolve the present District Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee and appoint a Receiver till fresh elections are conducted.
The ongoing protest dharna is being observed in front of Gurudwara Sri Guru Govind Singh Sabha, Nanak Nagar under the banner of Shiromani Gurmat Granthi Ragi Sabha J&K. These employees of District Gurudwara Parban-dhak Committee Jammu are demanding increase in their wages, insurance cover and EPF deduction.
Today on 13th day of their dharna, the protesting Granthis and Ragis raised slogans against the District Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu, which is headed by adhoc committee president S Dalip Singh. They accused the Prabandhak Committee office bearers of turning a deaf ear towards most genuine demands of Ragis and Granthis.
While the offering by public have increased manifold, the Granthis, Ragis and Sewadars are still getting meager wages of Rs 3000 to Rs 5000 per months  thus  facing hardships to manage their daily needs as well as provide education to their children, said the protesters.
