Protesting TJAC to boycott all Govt functions on Teachers’ Day

JAMMU, Sept 2: As the on going indefinite chain hunger strike of Teachers’ Joint Action Committee entered into 4th consecutive day on Sunday, a massive demonstration was also held at the site of fast dharna near Press Club Jammu, where a call was given for boycott of all Government functions on Teachers’ Day.

The teachers, who began their 24- hour fast this morning, included Lekh Raj Parihar (District president Udhampur JKRTTF), Sham Sharma (State chief press secretary JKRTTF), Sukesh Khajuria (State secretary JKRTTF), Ashok Seth (Provincial vice president JKRTTF) , Romesh Goswami, Swaran Singh, Maan Chand, Amit Gupta, Rajinder Singh and Sanjay Sharma.
The protesting teachers raised slogans in support of their main demand of implementing 7th Pay Commission in favour of SSA Teachers and Masters.
While addressing the gathering, JKRETTF president Vinod Sharma flayed the Government for its non seriousness and silence towards SSA Teachers and Masters whose families are living in mental trauma. He said that due to the casual approach of the Government, these teachers were unable to provide proper food and clothing to their children and required medicines to their old and ailing parents.
He appealed the Governor’s administration to intervene in this regard for the welfare of thousands of these Teachers and Masters and issue order regarding the implementation of 7th Pay Commission in their favour without any further delay.
Speaking on the occasion, Teachers Forum general secretary Ganesh Khajuria announced that TJAC will observe Teachers Day as black day and all Government functions at Zonal as well District level will be boycotted if the order for implementation of 7th Pay Commission is not issued before 5th September.
Gulzabir Daing, Sukhdev Singh Sumbria, Rajesh Jamwal, Dinesh Singh , Yog Raj Salathia, Gopal Singh, Raj Kumar Dubey, Darshan Sharma, Dinesh Singh, Pritam Goswami, Kuldip Bandral, P D Singh, Goutam Singh, Rekha Thakur, Ashraf Katoch and others also spoke on the occasion.
