Maternity and Childcare Hospital in Anantnag in south Kashmir has its staff not been provided with enough protective gears . The administration seems to be not keeping in mind the spike in the COVID-19 positive cases in Anantnag district and the associated hazards in respect of any carefree approach in equipping the hospital staff with the protective gears. How can the hospital staff right from the attending Doctors to other staff members remain safe and ensure no spread of the infection in the absence of such gears about which we have reports that many SoS calls have been made by the staff to higher authorities.
It is, however, a matter of satisfaction that there was no COVID 19 positive case under treatment in the hospital but some patients and their relatives visiting could be potential carriers about which the staff needs to be safeguarded. We have reports that to press for their genuine demand as under reference, the staff had a few days back resorted to a token strike as well. That clicked and some gears were provided but they were found defective and returned. We hope by now the problem must have been resolved to the satisfaction of the hospital staff.
