JAMMU/Rajouri, Oct 23: Provincial and District level Chess Championships, organised by All J&K chess Association, concluded at Glandni Grid Complex Narwal Jammu and Sawani in Rajouri, today.
The provincial level Chess Championship was organised for under-15 boys and girls, wherein Mayank Agarwal won the tournament in under-15 boy’s category, while 2nd and 3rd places were secured by Amandeep Singh and Pazhany Kohli respectively, while in girls category, 7years old Alankrita Sharma won the tournament, whereas 2nd and 3rd positions were clinched by Manasvi Gupta and Srujanika Gupta, respectively.
The chief arbiter of the tournament was Ajit Singh and arbiter was Arvindu Sharma.
In Rajouri, two days long District Chess Championship was also concluded at Sawani which was conducted by Neha Dutta and Rakesh Singh as per the latest FIDE laws of Chess under the guidance of Atul Kumar Gupta, president AJKCA.
In boys category, open category: Aseem Shah stood 1st; while Yasir Amin remained 2nd and Ankit clinched 3rd place, whereas in under-19: Mohd Abdhullaa remained 1st, Mohd Nadeem and Mohd Fareed stood 2nd and 3rd respectively and in under-15: Sajjad Ahmed bagged 1st place, while Fazahil and Shoaib stood 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Headmaster High School Sawani, Nirmal Kumar was the chief guest at the closing ceremony along with Pooja Bali and Neha Dutta from the Chess Association of District Association.
Meanwhile, in District Championship Kathua five rounds were played.
The winners in Open boys were: Sahil Mahajan, Paras Sharma and Shubdeep Sharma who stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, while in open girls: first three places were won by Mriganka Sangra, Harsheen Kour and Muskaan Razaq respectively and in under-14 boys, Rudra, Harshit Jamwal, Harseerat Singh and Samar Pratap stood 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.
Besides, in under-14 girls, Muskaan Razaq stood first, while in under 12 boys, Rishant Jasrotia, Dakshdev, Summat Singh and Agaransh remained 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively and in under 12 girls, Priyal Sharma and Shallija Jasrotia won top two position.
Moreover, in under-9, Paras Sharma, Anhad Singh and Jaiveer Singh secured top three places, while in under-8 boys, first two places were clinched by Anahad Dhillon and Rishav Chouhan respectively and in under-8 girls, Aarvi Andotra and Samridhi Andotra stood 1st and 2nd, besides in under-7 boys, Adyansh stood 1st.
The championship was organised at Learning Temple High School, wherein Dr Kulvindier and Naresh Kumar (Chairman of the host School) were the chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
