PRP delegation calls on DC, CE New Ganderbal

SRINAGAR, Dec 16: A delegation of PRP led by its president Mir Ghulam Rasool Called on Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal and Chief Engineer New Ganderbal Power Project and discussed various issues of public with them.
During its meeting with DC Ganderbal, Mir Ghulam Rasool demanded that contractors were facing difficulties in getting their cards renewed under NEREGA and the officers are putting them to unnecessary humiliation. The delegation demanded that directives be issued to concerned officers not to harass the contractors on this account. It also demanded that Government should adopt a clear cut policy on food security as people have lot of confusion about the same.
The delegation also demanded that instead of five Kgs of ration 10 kgs be sanctioned per head as people in the Valley are two time rice eaters in comparison to rest of the country.
The delegation during its meeting with CE New Ganderbal expressed concern over slow pace of work on the project and demanded immediate start of work by calling tenders.
It said that for last 22 years the project has not been constructed which is a cause of concern and the Government was not showing any interest in construction of this project as it has no clear cut policy for the same which has led to the problems to employees as well as people.
Mir also highlighted the plight of the employees in PDC and said that the employees of PDD who are on deputation have been denied the benefits of the regular employees. He said the Corporation has failed to frame its own rules which, is also a cause of concern for employees.
He said the PDD is short of 40 percent employees and the work is being done by need based labor who too are not given wages for months together. He also demanded posting of MD for Power Development Corporation which is headless for months together now.
