JAMMU, May 29: Police in Reasi district today detained three hardcore criminals under PSA.
The trio has been lodged in Kot Bhalwal Jail at Jammu.
The hardcore criminals were Ajeet Singh alias Anju son of Pritam Singh, Davinder Singh son of Kartar Singh and Sunit Singh son of Kapoor Singh—all from Kanthan Batli, Arnas in district Reasi.
Police sources said that all these criminals in league with others had unleashed a reign of fear psychosis in the area and they kept on hampering public harmony in and around Arnas area.
“They were in habit of intimidating the people and provoking the criminal elements against local administration in their due discharge of legal duties,” police sources informed.
“They often threatened the labourers employed in various developmental works being undertaken in the district. There was every apprehension that they could have created law and order problems in and around Arnas area. All the three criminals were involved in number of cases under various provisions of RPC,” sources further said adding that some of these cases were challaned in the court of law and others were still under investigation.
Sources also said that criminal activities of the trio were highly prejudicial to the maintenance of public order.
There are 12 criminal cases registered against Ajeet Singh, 4 against Davinder Singh and 3 against Sunit Singh.
“Dossier of these criminals was prepared and submitted to the competent authority which found that roaming freely of such persons is a serious threat to the peace in the area and they may disturb the harmony among the people,” sources maintained.
The entire operation was done under the supervision of Ashok Sharma SDPO Arnas, Shiv Kumar Chouhan, Additional SP Reasi and overall supervision of Nisha Nathyal, SSP Reasi.
