JAMMU, Apr 21: Outplaying Police XI convincingly in the summit clash, Parade Sports Association (PSA) XI lifted the title trophy of the ongoing Salute & Tribute to Martyrs Veteran T20 Cricket Cup, organised by Laxmi Cricket Club in collaboration with PSA at Parade Cricket ground, here today.
Winning the toss and batting first, Police XI scored a modest total of 113 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. Naresh top scored with 35 runs, while Rakesh Koul contributed 25 runs to the total. Rajesh Gill and Raman Singh chipped in with 12 runs each. From PSA XI, skipper Sanjay Sharma took 4 important wickets by conceding 8 runs in his 4 overs including a maiden over, while Vicky Dogra took 2 wickets. Sameer Khajuria and Shashi Kumar claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Parade Sports Association XI chased the target in 18.3 overs by losing 6 wicket, thus won the match by 4 wickets. Shashi Kumar was the top scorer with unbeaten 52 runs off 42 balls, studded with 5 boundaries, while Rupinder Singh Bedi and Vicky Dogra contributed 16 runs each and Anshuman chipped in with 13 runs. For his superb bowling display, Sanjay Sharma was adjudged as man of the match.
Earlier, in the first semifinal, Parade Sports Association defeated Evershine Cricket Club Satwari by 6 wickets. Sameer Khajuria was the star performer, who took 4 important wickets and was adjudged as the man of the match.
In another semifinal yesterday, Police XI defeated Challenger Cricket Club by 25 runs.
Batting first, Police XI scored 165 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Rakesh Koul scored 57 runs off 43 balls, while Naresh Kumar contributed 30 runs off 19 balls and Raman Singh contributed unbeaten 28 runs off 12 balls. From Challenger Cricket Club, Amit Gupta and Rajinder Mohan took 2 wickets each, while Vijay Sharma, Suresh and Ravi Kant claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, Challenger Cricket Club managed to score 141 runs in 20 overs by losing 8 wickets, thus lost the match by 25 runs. Suresh Singh was the top scorer with 28 runs, while Madan contributed 24 runs and Vivek made 20 runs. From Police XI, Rakesh Koul and Naresh Kumar took 2 wickets each, while Sachin, Ajay and Vivek claimed 1 wicket each. Rakesh Koul was adjudged as man of the match.
