Pt O N Shastri delivers lecture in South Asian Sanatan Congress

JAMMU, Mar 28: Pt Omkar Nath Shastri a renowned scholar of Shastras and chairman Pt Prem Nath Shastri Sanskritik Shodh Sansthan delivered a lecture in South Asian Sanatan Congress held at Kolkata, West Bengal which was attended by Hindu scholars from all over the country as well as abroad.
Pt Omkar Nath Shastri was specially invited by the organisers to represent the Kashmiri brahmins in the Congress which was organised on the occasion of 76th birth anniversary of Mahimilan Math, Kinkar Vitthal Ramanuja Maharaj. The representatives right from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Dwaraka to Burma participated in the Conference.
Prominent among the participants of the conference besides, Pt Omkar Nath Shastri from Kashmir, included Mahant Hari Giri from Juna Akhara, Chief Priest of Gangotri, Director Kedar Badri, Gangotri, Jamunotri, Chief of Pashupatinath Temple, Kathmandu, Nepal and heads of different Sanpradayas and vice chancellors . A delegation on behalf of Chief Minister of West Bengal lead by Minister Sujit Bose also attended the conference.
In his address Pt Omkar Nath Shastri said that Hindu Dharma is more ancient and eternal than many other religions of the world. Its philosophy is extremely rich hence its followers should remain active always to protect the dharma for the welfare and betterment of mankind which is its ultimate goal.
Shastri Ji said that to protect the dharma the stress should be given popularising of Sanskrit –the ancient language of the country which is basis of Hinduism. He regretted that no attention has been paid in popularising this language and stressed that its teaching be made compulsory all over the country up to class tenth for Hindu students.
