JAMMU, July 23: Purmandal Tehsil Action Forum (PTAF) has demanded tehsil status to Purmandal.
In a meeting of the PTAF held here today under the chairmanship of Raman Kumar, Sarpanch , the speakers said, “There is no tehsil in the radius of 50-60 Kms and the people have to go to Jammu or Samba which is 40-45 kilometres from Purmandal and its adjoining villages for any work regarding revenue”.
They said since block status was given to Purmandal in 1957 all the offices viz. BDO office, CDPO office, ZEO office, etc are functioning outside the limit of block territory, which is injustice with the area.
Earlier creating new administrative units, the Government ignored Purmandal area, which is a sacred shrine of Hindus and surrounded by more than 40 villages with a population of about 50000, they said, adding as the Government is again going to create new administrative units, we appeal the Government to do justice with the people of Purmandal by giving it a tehsil status.
