Puneet bombards MPSC Kurukshetra bowlers as JKP registers big win

KATHUA, Jan 21: Left-handed explosive batsman, Puneet Kumar butchered the hapless MP Sports Club Kurukshetra bowlers and struck power-packed 30-ball unbeaten 82 runs, studded with 6 boundaries and 7 massive sixes to help JKP XI thrash their rivals in the ongoing 5th Police Martyrs’ Memorial North Zone Inter-Club T20 Cricket Tournament, being jointly organized by J&K Police and Shahidi Welfare Committee, Kathua at Sports Stadium, here today.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, JKP XI scored a decent total of 160 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 6 wickets during the process. Puneet top scored with quick-fire 82 runs, while Jatin Wadhawan contributed with  valuable 38 runs including 3 fours and one six. For MP Sports Club, Rajneesh scalped 3 wickets by conceding 11 runs in his 4 overs, while Ankit claimed one wicket.
In reply, MP Sports Club bundled out for 120 runs in 19.1 overs, thus lost the match by 40 runs. Rajneesh scored 40 runs off 30 balls with the help of 2 fours and one six, while Deepak contributed with  26 runs off 14 balls, which included 4 boundaries and a six. For JKP XI, Kuldeep Kumar was the pick of the bowlers, who captured 3 important wickets by conceding 23 runs in his 4 overs, while Amandeep bagged 2 wickets by giving away 22 runs in his 3 overs and skipper Rajesh Gill claimed 2 wickets by spending 32 runs in his 4 overs. Puneet Kumar of JKP XI was adjudged as  man of the match for his superb knock. He was awarded a cash prize of Rs 1000 and a trophy by the organizers.
The match was officiated by Anoop Sharma, Rajesh Gupta, Mohan Lal, Om Pal, Kulbir Singh and Sanjeev Singh.
