SRINAGAR, Aug 31: A murderous knock of 82 runs off 33 balls with the help of 12 massive sixes by explosive Puneet Kumar helped Jumbo Gladiators to trounce Kanwal Tigers by a narrow margin of 7 runs in the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Corporate Premier League (JKCPL), here.
Winning the toss and batting first, Jumbo Gladiators, riding on a cracking knock of 82 runs by Puneet, scored a decent total of 173 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. He simply butchered the rival bowlers, sending them on a leather-hunt all around the park.
Talented Parveen Singh also slammed brilliant half-century (54 runs), studded with 8 boundaries and 2 sixes, while skipper Ramdayal chipped in with 17 runs off 13 balls. For Kanwal Tigers, Ishtiaq took 3 wickets, while Irfan Ahmad, Abid and Amir Sofi claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Kanwal Tigers managed to score 166 runs by losing 7 wickets in the allotted overs, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 7 runs. Amir Sofi was the top scorer with 46 runs, while Hanan Mir, Obaid Lone, Mehraj Ahmad and Dr Imran contributed 31, 26, 21 and 19 runs to the total respectively. For Jumbo Gladiators, Imtiyaz Malik and Soumay Jain took 2 wickets each, while Ramdayal Punia and Raman Dutta claimed one wicket each. Puneet Kumar was adjudged HDFC man of the match. TCI maximum sixes award also went to Puneet.
The match was officiated by the BCCI Panel umpires Sanjay Singh and Sudhir Singh, while Dheerendra Singh was the scorer.
