UDHAMPUR, June 5: Punjab Wrestler Abdul Gani of Mallerkotla clinched the 9th Annual Battal Ballian Kesari title 2017 by defeating Wrestler Pravesh of Bahadurgarh in Harayana in the 1st Malli bout that lasted for 24 minutes at Battal, near here today.
This historic and famous mega Vishal Dangal of Udhampur District was organized by Pir Baba Dangal Committee Battal Ballian in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma and President of the Dangal committee Deep Singh (Pinka).
In all 80 bouts were played in one day long Vishal Dangal and expenditure of Rs. 3,50,000/- has been incurred for conduct of the Dangal.
Former MoS and MLA Udhampur Pawan Kumar Gupta was the chief Guest on the occasion who distributed cash prizes among the wrestlers. Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function, while retired Colonel Balwant Singh and Raj Kumar Buccha were the guests of honour.
The first main bout (1st Malli) winner Abdul Gani was awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 61,000 by the dignitaries present on the occasion, while runner-up Wrestler Pravesh was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 40,000 by the dignitaries.
2nd main bout was won by Ajay Sharma of Landon Power House, Udhampur who defeated Wrestler Mohanu of Chand Roop Akhara Delhi. 3rd bout was won by Ishaq Ahmed (Lallu) of Bajrangi Akhara Jammu who defeated Kapil of Guru Hanuman Akhara Delhi, 4th bout was won by Nisar of J&K Police, resident of Doda who defeated Jatinder of Alamgir (Punjab) and 5th bout was won by Kaka of R.S Pura who defeated Resham of Delhi.
