Punjab wrestler Gani clinches dangal title

KATRA, June 11: Wrestler Abdul Gani of Mallerkotla in Punjab clinched the 7th Annual Udhampur-Industrial Area dangal title, outplaying Hari Krishan (Shota Khalli) of Rohtak in Haryana in the bout of first malli at Industrial area, Battal Ballian, near here.
Dangal was organized by Industrial Area Battal Ballian Dangal Committee in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
Winner of the 1st malli, wrestler Gani was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 41,000 by chief guest, Benam Tosh, SP Udhampur and president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma while runners-up wrestler Hari Krishan received cash of Rs. 30,000 from Sarpanch Gian Singh, Parladh Singh and president of the Dangal Committee Rakesh Singh.
The cash prize of Rs 71,000 was sponsored by Sarpanch Gian Singh and NC Leader Parladh Singh.
42 bouts were played in the one day Vishal Dangal and in the second main bout Benia of J&K Police defeated Satinder of Air Force Delhi.
Rs 36,000 was awarded as cash prize money to winner Benia, while runner-up wrestler Satinder got Rs 25,000. 3rd bout was won by Gourav Raina of HP who defeated Amit of Chandigarh. Rs 12,000 was awarded to winner Gourav while runner-up wrestler got Rs 9,000.
