Punjab Wrestler lifts 131st Int’l Thial Chougan Dangal title

UDHAMPUR, June 23: Wrestler Chhota Sudam of Hoshiarpur, Punjab lifted 131st annual International Thial Chougan Dangal title-2024 by defeating wrestler Shanbeer of Kohali, Amritsar in the 1st malli main bout that lasted for 18 minutes at Thial Chougan in district Udhampur today.
Winner of 1st malli bout wrestler Chhota Sudam was awarded with cash prize of Rs 61,000 while runner-up wrestler Shanbeer got Rs 50,000. Former MLA and chief spokesperson BJP Ranbir Singh Pathania was the chief guest who gave away cash prizes among the wrestlers. He also contributed Rs 21,000 as financial assistance to the organizers.
Former Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council and President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function. Prabhari Kissan Morcha J&K and BJP Senior Leader Nand Kishore Sharma were the guests of honour.
The 2nd malli bout was won by wrestler Narinder of Khanna in Punjab who defeated wrestler Mohomed Amir of Iran. Winner wrestler Narinder was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 while runner-up wrestler Mohomed Amir got Rs 40,000.
The 3rd malli bout was won by Wrestler Rashid of Domana Akhara Jammu who defeated Wrestler Yogesh of Mulapur in Chandigarh. Winner Wrestler Rashid was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 18,000 while runner-up Wrestler Yogesh got Rs 13,000.
