Punjab Wrestler Pamma lifts 1st Jhiri Kesari 2016 title

JAMMU, Apr 25: Pahelwan Pamma of Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab lifted 1st Jhiri Kesari 2016title by defeating Tejveer of Rohtak in Haryana in a very tough fight for the first malli bout that lasted for 11 minutes at Jhiri, here today.
The event was organized by J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association in association with Youth Club Kalayanpur, under the overall supervision of president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sahrma, vice president Ram Pal Sharma and organizer Deep Raj.
Former Minister and MLA Sukhnandan Choudhary was the chief guest on the occasion, who distributed cash prizes among the winners and runners-up wrestlers, while Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council and treasurer India Style Wrestling Association of India was the guest of honour. The guests of honour included SHO Kana Chak, Rakesh Singh Jamwal, Prem Choudhary, Sanjit Bavouria, PR Sahrma and Ashok Mahajan.
Winner of firstmalli was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 31,000 alongwith traditional gurj and patta, while the runners-up wrestler was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 20,000.
Meanwhile, Manna of Chandigarh was declared best wrestler of the event.
