JAMMU, Aug 4: Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu organized a function at K L Saigal Hall of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu, to release a Punjabi book titled ‘Riasati Adhunik Punjabi Sahit De Meel Pathar’ written by  Devinder Singh Vishvanagrik, a well known Punjabi writer of the State.
Charanjeet Singh, MLC was the chief guest and T S Wazir presided over the function. The book was released in the presence of intellectuals, writers, artists working in different fields, art lovers as well as other members of civil society.
Dr Sukhwinder Singh, a Punjabi scholar and Dr Monojit a well known Punjabi satire writer of the State presented their papers on the book during the function, where the contents of the book were critically evaluated by these scholars.
Dr Arvinder Amn speaking on this occasion said that the Vishavnagrik deserves applause that he has documented the contribution of the modern Punjabi writers of J&K in the field of Punjabi literature.
Wazir in his address appreciated the efforts being made by the Sabha in raising the standards of literature and literary events. He said that during the Gurdwara Parbhandhak Committee elections the raising of Punjabi’s level  was taken into account.
Expressing his views Devinder Vishavnagrik said that the organization is committed to the cause of the promotion of Punjabi language in the region. He said that the libraries in the schools and in private sector should come forward to acquire Punjabi books of the local writers.
