SRINAGAR, Aug 30: To empower Panchayati Raj system in the State, Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) today organized a rally in district Kulgam, in which PYC members and supporters participated.
The rally was taken out from Town Hall Kulgam to DC Office where memorandum was submitted to Additional DC, demanding implementation of 73rd and 74th Amendments in the Panchayati Raj Act.
While speaking, PYC president Shahnawaz Choudhary said that they would continue their protest till the Government will implement the amendments in Panchayati Raj Act.
He said that the Youth Congress has submitted the memorandum almost across the State in every assembly.
LYC, Vice President Anantnag, Aijaz Mehar said the CM should take Youth Congress movement seriously and take steps to make 73rd and 74th Amendments in the Panchayati Raj Act.
He also said that if their demand will not be fulfill the Youth Congress delegates will come on roads to protest against the Government.
Additional DC gave patient hearing and assured them that he will forward the memorandum to Chief Minister.
Among others present were Lok Sabha and Assembly presidents Zameer Ahmed, Mohd Iqbal, Siraj Din, Naeem Ahmed, Khurshid Ahmed, Shabir Ahmed and former district president Sartaj Ahmed, Bashir Ahmed, Imtaiz Ahmed.
