PYKKA: Competitions held in Reasi, Jammu, Ramban, Udhampur

JAMMU, Oct 16: The Competitions under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme ‘Panchayat Yuva, Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan’ PYKKA were held in the Districts of Reasi, Ramban, Jammu and Udhampur at different Blocks, today.
The 2-days Inter-Panchayat Block-Level Competition under PYKKA concluded at Block Mahore, the remotest Block of District Reasi and Block Pouni. In Mahore Block about 100 players and in Pouni Block about 200 (155 boys & 45 girls) players of different Panchayats participated in Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Wrestling, Badminton and Athletics.
Sher Singh, SDM Mahore, was the chief guest, while Principal Higher Secondary School Mahore was the guest of honour on this occasion in Block Mahore.
Ashraf Ali, Block Medical Officer Pouni was the chief guest and the Principal Higher Secondary School Bharakh was the guest of honour on this occasion in Block Pouni.
The CSS/PYKKA Rural Tournament is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Office Reasi. The tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Dr Swaran Singh Chib, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Reasi.

Meanwhile, district Level Inter-Block PYKKA Competitions in volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho and wrestling got underway at Government Higher Secondary School Domana, wherein 250 boys drawn from the blocks of Jammu district took part. The tournament is being organized under the overall supervision of Tirath Ram, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu.
The tournament was declared open by Govind Ram Sharma, Principal, GHSS Domana. Prominent among others present on the occasion were Chanchal Kour, Indira Khushoo, Hira Lal, Sher Singh, Ram Kumar and Bhim Singh.
Earlier, in volleyball final Khour defeated Bishnah by (2-0) sets, while in kabaddi final, Marh beat Bhalwal by 11 points and in kho-kho title clash, Bhalwal defeated Akhnoor by one point.
In wrestling, Rakesh Kumar of Bhalwal, Rishi Kumar of Bhalwal, Mohd Mushtaq of RS Pura, Yashpal of Marh and Sandeep Singh of Satwari claimed gold medals in various age groups of wrestling.
At HSS Ramban, the tournament was held in the disciplines of volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho, wrestling and athletics, under the supervision of ZPEO Ramban Harshikesh Koul and under the guidance of Dewan Chand Thakur, while at Udhampur the PYKKA tournament in the disciplines of kabaddi, volleyball, kho-kho, athletics and wrestling was declared open by Additional Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, who was the chief guest on the occasion, while Rakesh Jamwal, Joint Director Planning and Darshan Lal, Chief Education Officer Udhampur were the guests of honour.
The tournament is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the supervision of Sukhdev Singh, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Udhampur.
