Qamran’s 147 anchors J&K to a commanding 320/7 on Day 1 against Delhi

JAMMU, Oct 13: In the Men’s U-23 Col CK Nayudu Trophy match, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) put up an impressive score of 320/7 against Delhi on the first day, thanks to a sensational century by Qamran Iqbal at the Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi Stadium, Jamia Milia Islamia, Delhi.
Opting to bat first, J&K openers Qamran Iqbal and Qazi Junaid Masood set the tone with a solid 73-run partnership. Qazi Junaid contributed 38 runs with five boundaries before being dismissed. Qamran Iqbal, in sublime form, built a 101-run partnership with Musaif Ajaz, who scored 45 runs, including three towering sixes.
Qamran’s masterful innings of 147 off 183 balls, which featured 10 boundaries and 7 sixes, was the highlight of the day. Despite losing skipper Kanhaiya Wadhawan cheaply, J&K continued to build momentum. Arya Thakur remained unbeaten on 37, while Janib Javaid was on 7 at stumps.
Delhi’s bowling attack was led by left-arm spinner Rounak Waghela, who took 3 wickets for 88 runs. Akhil Choudhary claimed 2 wickets, while Mayank Gossain and Divij Mehra each took one. At the close of play on Day 1, J&K stands at a strong 320/7, with hopes of pushing their total even higher on Day 2.
