JAMMU, Nov 8: Jammu and Kashmir put up an impressive batting performance on Day 1 of the U-23 Men’s Col CK Nayudu Trophy, scoring 351/4 against Nagaland at Jammu University Ground, here today.
Explosive opening batsman Qamran Iqbal was the standout performer, scoring a power-packed 96 runs off 92 balls, just missing out on a century. His knock included 7 fours and 6 sixes, setting a strong foundation for J&K after they lost two early wickets.
Qamran’s brilliant partnership with skipper Kanhaiya Wadhawan, who made 59 runs off 123 balls with 4 fours and 1 six, took the team to 160/3 in 35.5 overs. After Qamran’s dismissal, Yawer Hassan joined Kanhaiya, and the pair took the score to 200/4 in 51.1 overs.
Yawer Hassan then combined with Arnav Gupta, and the duo forged a massive 151-run partnership, taking the total to 351/4 at stumps. Yawer remained unbeaten on 74, while Arnav was on 51 at the close of play.
For Nagaland, Anil Gupta, Khrievitso, and Keizekho claimed one wicket each. J&K will look to build on their solid position when play resumes on Day 2.
