JAMMU, Dec 8: Quarterfinals position has been cleared in the ongoing 62nd National School Games Under-19 Football Championship, being organized by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, under the aegis of School Games Federation of India at various venues, here.
The teams which have qualified for the last eight stage include Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Chandigarh, KVS, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.
Earlier, at MA Stadium, Haryana defeated IPSC by a solitary goal (1-0) and the goal scorer was Neeraj who netted it in 51st minute.
In another match at MA Stadium, Delhi thrashed Daman Deo by three goals to nil (3-0). Raman, Rudraksh and Suryaman pelted the goals in 2nd, 14th and 29th minutes respectively.
In today’s third match at MA Stadium, Uttarakhand blanked Vidya Bharti by seven goals to nil (7-0). Zeeshan Ansari was the star performer, who scored 3 brilliant goals, while Ankit Gusai, Manik Sah, Kamlesh Singh and Mohd Sharukh netted one goal each.
In today’s last match at MA Stadium, Jharkhand held Delhi to goalless draw.
At Jammu University ground, Lakshdweep got better of DAV by three goals to nil (3-0). Mesulua, Afridi and Mohd Sihana pelted the goals in 20th, 38th and 50th minutes respectively.
In another match at Jammu University ground, Karnataka defeated Telangana by two goals to one (2-1). For Karnataka, Sahil and Roxan scored he goals in 9th and 56th minutes respectively, while Sriram was the goal scorer for Telangana.
Hosts Jammu and Kashmir defeated Puducherry by three goals to two (3-2) in a well fought contest, but failed to qualify for the quarterfinals stage as Rajasthan topped the Pool with all three wins to qualify for the last eight stages. For J&K, Sahil scored 2 goals in 36th and 56th minutes, while, Aftab netted another one in 52nd minute. M. Hariharan and B. Vignesh were the goal scorers for Puducherry in 37th and 44th minutes respectively.
In yet another match at Jammu University ground, Chandigarh beat Telangana by three goals to nil (3-0).
At GGM Science College ground, Puducherry defeated CBSE by four goals to nil (4-0). F Senthanil pelted 3 goals in 14th, 25th and 37th minutes, while B Vignesh scored the goal in 34th minute.
In another match at Science College ground, Uttar Pradesh crushed Andhra Pradesh by four goals to nil (4-0). Manoj Nirmal, V Paswan, Ibne Talib and Partick Sharma scored the gaols in 21st, 23rd, 29th and 59th minutes respectively.
In another match at GGM Science College ground, Lakshdweep beat West Bengal by a solitary goal (1-0). Shuaib was the goal scorer in 38th minute, while in last match at this venue, Gujarat got better of AP by (2-0).
At BSF ground Paloura, Kerala trounced Gujarat by (3-1). For Gujarat, Musaniya scored the goal early in the 4th minute, however, Mahesh K. from Kerala scored an equalizer in the 5th minute and Sijin Simon also scored back to back goals for Kerala in 16th and 21st minute.
In other three matches at BSF Paloura, Punjab blanked Madhya Pradesh by 10 goals to nil (10-0), KVS got better of IPSC by (4-2) and Maharashtra outplayed Haryana by (2-0).
Sunil Mohan Mehta, DIG BSF, who has been a prominent hockey player of his time was the chief guest in today’s proceedings, who interacted with the teams of Madhya Pradesh and Punjab at BSF ground Paloura.
He lavished praise on the organizers for holding this mega event.
The matches are being officiated by a panel of experts including Shafqat Iqbal, Muzzafar Jan, AR Paddar, Ravi Kumar, Peer Javed Hassan, Latif Ahmed, Joginder Singh, Raman Kumar, Kaiser Ahmed, Mushtaq Ahmed, Younis Ahad, Sajad Ahmed Pala, Rajinder Singh, Sarfaraz Nabi, Mehrajudin Zargar, Nasir Hussain, Gulzar Ahmed, Shahid Mohidin, Vivek Slathia, Bupinder Singh, Ishfaq Ahmed Rather, Sonaullah, Sanjay Verma, Dinesh Kumar, Nazir Ahmed Bhat, Riyaz Ahmed Dar, Ajay Sharma, Ramesh Kumar, Javed Ahmed Gudoo, Ashok Kumar, Hardeep Singh Jamwal, Manzoor Ahmed, Showkat Ahmed Waza, Arshid Amin, Vipin Kumar, Sheikh Showkat, Navin Singh, Rohit Singh Slathia, Tariq Ahmed Khan and Khursheed Ahmed Lone.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Punjab will face Chandigarh at Jammu University ground, Rajasthan will lock horns with UP at GGM Science College, Chhattisgarh will take on KVS at MA Stadium and Tamil Nadu will meet Jharkhand at BSF Paloura.
