NEW DELHI :Tremors of variable intensity hit the national capital and various others parts of the country this forenoon, driving people to streets from their high rise buildings. The intensity of the earthquake which hit various around the capital was not immediately known.
Panic stricken people ran out of their houses and offices soon after the earthquake.
Initial reports said that the quake, measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale, was felt for a few seconds.
The tremblor was epicentred at Nepal. Many hilly areas in Uttarakhand were also hit by the earthquake. Details are awaited.
